Binghamton University student-athletes again rise to 3.0 plateau
Sports teams reach high grade-point average for 13th time in last 17 semesters

VESTAL, N.Y. - Binghamton University's 383 student-athletes continued their academic success with a 3.0 grade-point average for the 2006 fall semester, the department announced today. It marked the 13th time in the last 17 semesters that the student-athlete body has reached the 3.0 plateau.

More than 55% of the athletes earned a 3.0 or higher GPA (211) for the fall semester. Among that group, 110 individuals maintained a 3.5 or higher (29%). Eleven different teams achieved a 3.0 or higher GPA.

Since elevating to Division I competition in fall 2001, BU student-athletes have reached the 3.0 mark in eight of 11 semesters.
