EMPLOYMENT #1 TITLE: Baxter Mascot
Job Description: The Baxter mascot is an integral part of the Bearcats Athletics experience, whether it is at a Basketball game, a wrestling match, or visiting a local school, Baxter is a highly visible representative of the university and athletics. In order to attain the most professional representation of Binghamton University Athletics the mascot must be someone who shares the same spirit and enthusiasm for the school as the Athletic department staff. Additionally the mascot needs to be trained to display the appropriate actions in different performance settings. A consistent mascot performance is also crucial to the professionalism displayed by Baxter. The person who performs as Baxter must accept the responsibility that they are a representative of the school and athletic department, and in doing so also commits to perform as Baxter in accordance with the following responsibilities. Responsibilities at Home Basketball Games: Arrive at arena one (1) hour prior to game time, in costume 1/2 hour prior to tip-off. Perform all duties of the mascot as scripted by the Athletic Promotions Office. Meet and greet fans prior to and after the game. Participate in pre-game and in-game promotions, including contests, photo ops, t-shirt toss, etc. Perform choreographed cheer/dance routines with BU Cheer Team. Additional Responsibilities: Select Soccer/Wrestling Matches, Lacrosse Games, Homecoming Weekend, Summer Freshmen Orientations, Campus Open House Events Various Local Events. EMPLOYMENT #2 TITLE: Bearcats Athletics Department Marketing Intern
The Bearcats Athletics Marketing Internship is a rigorous though rewarding program for the student looking to get a hands-on, immersion-based look into the world of intercollegiate athletics and sports marketing. Interns are required to serve in a variety of roles, assisting extensively in set-up and game day, execution of promotions during games and breakdown after games. Interns also work in the residence communities and larger Binghamton community, promoting Bearcat games, giveaways, events and more. Additionally, interns get the chance to see the inner workings of the department and the marketing office, performing in-office tasks and interacting with department staff in an array of fields on a regular basis. This creates endless networking and shadowing opportunity, giving depth to the program beyond the traditional duties. A significant time commitment, the opportunity offers many chances for professional and personal growth. This team-oriented environment fosters cohesive group work skills and team pride, hones every intern's innate problem-solving abilities and promotes a genuine respect for commitment, self-discipline and self-improvement. EMPLOYMENT #3 TITLE: Building Supervisor
Description: Building Supervisors manage matters relating to the operation of all areas of the West Gymnasium. Staff will be responsible for opening and closing all facilities in the West Gym for recreational usage, club sports, athletics, PE classes, or other special events. Students will need to be knowledgeable about all activities in the West Gym and have the ability to provide this information to anyone who wishes to use the facility. They will be responsible for tending to emergencies and injuries as well as enforcing the policies of the Department of Physical Education and Athletics to all patrons using the facilities. EMPLOYMENT #4 TITLE: Varsity Athletics Event Staff
Description: This position assists in the staffing for varsity athletic competitions in the Bearcat Sports Complex, the West Gymnasium, and other varsity venues. Staffers will work in a variety of capacities including ticket takers, ushering, game operations, etc. Event staff will also assist in the oversight of outside events and groups who use Athletic facilities. Quantity of work hours available each week is dependent upon the Varsity Athletic Competition schedule. One must have the ability to work well with others in a service-oriented environment. Each individual will be required to work with the public and troubleshoot when necessary. EMPLOYMENT #5 TITLE: Athletic Event Management Intern
Description: Athletics Event Interns are the face of BU Athletics to opponents and officials. They are responsible for tending to game officials and opposing team(s) in terms of greeting, payment forms, game information, and other areas relating to the time our visitors are on campus. Interns oversee visiting team practices, kick-arounds, and shoot-arounds. Interns will gain experience in overseeing student employees including: assigning them to workstations, being the first contact for troubleshooting, and general oversight. These work stations will include such jobs as meet managers for tennis, scoreboard operators, scorebook keepers, ticket takers, etc. Key Attributes we are looking: Our Interns get to experience the excitement of NCAA Division I athletics. We are looking for individuals who truly enjoy being at live sporting events, and who are excited to learn about sports they may never have experienced before. Since our Interns are on the sidelines and go behind-the-scenes, applicants need to be confident, conscientious, tactful, and have good verbal communication skills. Trouble-shooting is a large component of these positions. Students will also be the primary contact for their assigned opposing team(s) while they are on the Binghamton Campus for practices or games. EMPLOYMENT #6 TITLE: Athletic Communications Intern (General)
GENERAL The office of Athletics Communications is responsible for publicizing Binghamton University's 21 varsity intercollegiate teams that compete at the NCAA Division I level. The Athletics Communications Intern would assist in the day-to-day operations of the sports information office. SPECIFIC DUTIES Assist in the day-to-day coverage of the varsity teams - compiling and disseminating statistics, producing printed home game programs and contributing to the daily maintenance of the department's website Attend select home games to provide statistical assistance and capture photos File reports/press releases for web, America East Conference and NCAA Conduct archival research to verify and expand statistics, records and participation in all sports since the inception of Binghamton University Expand hometown releases, feature stories and community involvement pieces VALUE TO STUDENT The internship will provide an excellent window into the profession of collegiate athletics administration. The student will also gain experience in all facets of communications, from writing feature stories and press releases, to updating content for the department's website. EMPLOYMENT #7 TITLE: Athletic Communications Intern (Digital Media)
GENERAL The office of Athletics Communications is responsible for publicizing Binghamton University's 21 varsity intercollegiate teams that compete at the NCAA Division I level. The Athletics Communications Intern would manage the department's digital media initiatives, including all matters relating to videography and social media. SPECIFIC DUTIES Film and broadcast most home athletic contests over BU's live streaming video website Produce highlight packages for the department's website and America East Conference Expand the Binghamton University Athletics YouTube Channel by submitting athlete of the week videos, community involvement pieces and weekly highlight packages Travel to selected conference championships to capture highlights and interviews Assist with capturing photos at selected home events Provide commentary for social media outlets, including BU's live blog and twitter account VALUE TO STUDENT The internship will provide an excellent window into the profession of collegiate athletics administration. The student will also gain experience working with video software such as Final Cut Pro, iMovie and social media software such as Cover it Live. The successful intern will learn how to promote Binghamton University's intercollegiate teams through a digital media platform and will have the opportunity to develop a portfolio of work samples. EMPLOYMENT #8 TITLE: GRAPHIC DESIGN INTERNSHIP
The Binghamton University Athletics Department is seeking qualified applicants for a paid Graphic Design internship. Duties include but are not limited to developing and producing graphic designs for digital, video and print content to promote Binghamton Athletics across various channels including print, video, web, email, and social media. The successful candidate will serve as project manager from conception through completion for various digital and print media including collateral materials, posters, schedule cards, advertisements, social media, signs, photo manipulations, and other design projects. Graphic Design intern will collaborate with the marketing, ticketing, fundraising, athletic communications and video areas to provide a consistent brand and message across all projects.
Preferred Qualifications
Candidates should have demonstrated proficiency using design programs including Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign; working knowledge of Adobe After Effects is preferred; ability to quickly grasp requests, manage competing demands and be able to handle frequent changes; demonstrated experience working in a team environment; and excellent organizational and communication skills.
Compensation: $2,500 for the academic year (September 15, 2019 – May 15, 2020).

EMPLOYMENT #9 TITLE: DIGITAL BROADCAST INTERNSHIP
The Binghamton University Athletics Department is seeking qualified applicants for a paid Digital Broadcast internship position. Duties include but are not limited to: have a prominent role in the live production of Binghamton's ESPN3 broadcasts (role dependent on successful candidate's skill set); produce features and graphics for ESPN3 and the Events Center video board; create motion graphics for use in social media, video and live streaming content; assist in the production of Athletics video content; shoot and edit video content for use across multiple platforms; and other duties as assigned by the Senior Associate Athletic Director.
Preferred Qualifications
Candidates should have previous experience in video production with a working knowledge of video editing software, fluency in After Effects is preferred; ability to create professional post-production video content; demonstrated experience working in a team environment; and excellent organizational and communication skills. The ability to work nights, weekends and irregular schedules is required.
Compensation: $2,500 for the academic year (September 1, 2019 – May 15, 2020).

EMPLOYMENT #10 TITLE: ESPN LIVE STREAMS PRODUCTION ASSISTANT
The Binghamton University Athletics Department is seeking qualified applicants for non-paid production assistants for ESPN live stream broadcasts. The Binghamton Athletics Department in collaboration with the America East Conference has partnered with ESPN to create locally produced ESPN live streams broadcasts. If you have an interest in gaining valuable television production and broadcast experience, this is your opportunity. Binghamton students will have a hands-on, immersion-based look into the world of sports broadcast production. Production assistants will play integral roles in the ESPN live streams broadcasts including operation of on-screen graphics, replays, cameras and audio boards. Prior experience in broadcast production is NOT required. Students will be provided training for these roles. The ability to work night and weekend games is required.
